TacklrTrackr: Identifying ‘Good’ Tacklers presents a data-driven approach to evaluating defensive tackling performance in football beyond traditional statistics. The paper introduces eight key attributes—Reliability, Force, Athleticism, Tackling Range, Intensity, Tackles Over Expectation, Allowed Yards After Contact, and STRAIN—to comprehensively assess tacklers. It details advanced metrics and models that account for situational and contextual factors, providing more accurate evaluations. Additionally, we developed two interactive applications: the Adjustable Tackle Metric Hub, which allows users to customize weightings for different tackling attributes, and TacklrTrackr, which provides in-depth player comparisons. This research enables teams to make data-informed decisions in player evaluation and recruitment.
